What is 3 Chords?

3 Chords is a non-profit organization founded by Nashville singer-songwriter, Anne Buckle in 2016 aimed at helping refugee youth express themselves through music. In partnership with World Relief Nashville, a faith-based refugee resettlement organization, 3 Chords works with high school aged refugees to teach them how to write original songs and play guitar to tell their stories.

The name 3 Chords comes from a phrase songwriters often say - that the only thing you need to write a song is "three chords and the truth." Anne took that phrase to heart, believing that it could empower high school refugees new to America to realize that if they could simply learn three chords on guitar, that's all they'd need to be able to tell their truth through music.

About

1 in every 122 people in the world today is a refugee, meaning they were forced to leave their home country to escape war, religious or political persecution, or natural disaster. 3 Chords was founded in order to help refugee youth have an outlet to express themselves and tell their stories through original songs.
